EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ANGELA V. COPPOLA

     WHEREAS, Angela V. Coppola, aged 86 and a resident of Cranston, Rhode Island,

2

passed away on April 6, 2018, at Roger Williams Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Arthur

3

N. Coppola; and

4

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Coppola was born in Providence, Rhode Island, a daughter of the late

5

Pasquale and Elsie Matarese. She graduated from Central High School, and attained a Bachelor of

6

Science degree from Bryant College. Mrs. Coppola was a highly acclaimed schoolteacher who

7

taught for many years at St. Mary of the Visitation School and St. Xavier Academy. She was

8

passionate about the value of education and the importance of the teaching profession. She made

9

an indelible mark on the lives of all the students she taught and helped to prepare them to go

10

forward and to live successful lives full of meaning; and

11

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Coppola was very proud of her Italian heritage and was a devoted

12

member of the Catholic Church. She was an active parishioner of St. Mark Church, and was a

13

member of the Italian American Historical Society and the Sons of Italy Loggia Vittoria # 585;

14

and

15

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Coppola was a devoted wife, sister, and aunt, and was a beloved friend

16

of many. All who knew and loved her feel the pain of her loss but the vibrant memory of her and

17

the beautiful life she lived will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends; and

18

     WHEREAS, Besides her husband, Mrs. Coppola is survived by one sister, Norma Kacen,

19

one sister-in-law, Beatrice McCarthy, and six nieces and nephews, Marilyn Coppola, Debra

20

Coppola, Michael Coppola, Jimmy McCarthy, Maureen Fogarty, and Karen Musumeci; now,

therefore be it

2

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

3

hereby expresses its condolences on the passing of Mrs. Angela V. Coppola; and be it further

4

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

5

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Arthur N. Coppola.
