EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF MARGARET M. | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of |
2 | Margaret M. "Peggy" McKnight. Better known as "Sissy" to her family and many friends, she |
3 | was the beloved wife of the late James L. McKnight, and the cherished mother of James |
4 | McKnight, Jr. and his wife, Susan, Brian McKnight and his wife, Lynn, Kevin McKnight and his |
5 | wife, Leslie, Kristen Bernardo and her husband, Eugene, and Shannon Shippee; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Born in Providence, Mrs. McKnight was the daughter of the late Michael |
7 | and Margaret Shields, and the sister of William Shields and his wife, Joan, and the late John and |
8 | Michael Shields. She was a graduate of St. Mary Academy, Bay View; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Peggy McKnightâs loving personality created and nurtured a marriage that |
10 | flourished, and a home that was warm and welcoming. She doted on her family, particularly her |
11 | eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews; and |
12 | WHEREAS, In addition to her family life, Mrs. McKnight had been employed with the |
13 | State of Rhode Island for many years before retiring from the Division of Fish and Wildlife; and |
14 | WHEREAS, A faithful parishioner, Mrs. McKnight was a communicant of Saint Thomas |
15 | More Church in Narragansett. She also enjoyed her summers in Bonnet Shores; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Peggy McKnight's kind and generous nature will forever be indelibly |
17 | imprinted on the lives and in the cherished memories of her entire family. She enriched the lives |
18 | of all who had the good fortune to have known her and she will be dearly missed; now, therefore |
19 | be it |

1 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2 | hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Margaret M. McKnight; and be it |
3 | further |
4 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
5 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to James McKnight, Jr., Brian McKnight, Kevin |
6 | McKnight, Kristen Bernardo, and Shannon Shippee. |
