CONGRATULATING NICK WISHART ON BECOMING THE FIRST RHODE ISLANDER | |
TO COMPLETE THE WORLD MARATHON CHALLENGE | |

1 | WHEREAS, Inaugurated in 2015, the World Marathon challenge is a brutally difficult |
2 | event that astonishingly requires a person to complete seven marathons (that's 26.2 miles) on each |
3 | of the seven continents in seven days; and |
4 | WHEREAS, The 2018 World Marathon Challenge was conducted from January 30, |
5 | 2018, to February 5, 2018, with the first marathon on Antarctica, followed by subsequent daily |
6 | marathons in Cape Town, South Africa; Perth, Australia; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Lisbon, |
7 | Portugal; Cartagena, Colombia; and finishing in Miami, Florida; and, |
8 | WHEREAS, Mr. Nick Wishart, a resident of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and member of |
9 | Industrial Revolution CrossFit, is a dedicated runner and physical fitness enthusiast who has run |
10 | three Boston Marathons and the New York City Marathon. Looking for yet another challenge to |
11 | overcome, Mr. Wishart heard about the World Marathon Challenge and was instantly interested |
12 | in competing in this race because it combined two things he loves, a very difficult athletic |
13 | endeavor and world travel; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Mr. Wishart achieved three significant accomplishments by participating in |
15 | the 2018 World Marathon Challenge. He became the first Rhode Islander and one of only 106 |
16 | men and women to complete this race, and while doing so, he raised money for three local |
17 | charities: the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, the March of Dimes, and the Rhode Island |
18 | Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA); now, therefore be it |
19 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |

1 | hereby congratulates Nick Wishart on becoming the first Rhode Islander to complete the World |
2 | Marathon Challenge and wishes him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it |
3 | further |
4 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
5 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Nick Wishart. |
