1 | RESOLVED, That the special Senate commission created by resolution No. 360 passed |
2 | by the Senate at its January session, A.D. 2017, and approved June 30, 2017, entitled "Senate |
3 | Resolution Creating a Special Legislative Commission to examine the Advisability of Rhode |
4 | Island Joining the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact" and as extended by resolution No. 118 |
5 | passed by the Senate at its January session, A.D. 2018, and approved March 15, 2018, entitled |
6 | "Senate Resolution Extending the reporting and expiration Dates of the Special Legislative |
7 | Commission to examine the Advisability of Rhode Island Joining the Interstate Medical |
8 | Licensure Compact" is hereby authorized to continue its study and make a report to the Senate on |
9 | or before January 1, 2019, and said commission shall expire on January 31, 2019; and be it |
10 | further |
11 | RESOLVED, That the time for reporting authorized by resolution No. 360 passed by the |
12 | Senate at its January session, A.D. 2017, and approved June 30, 2017, and as extended by |
13 | resolution No. 118 passed by the Senate at its January session, A.D. 2018, and approved March |
14 | 15, 2018, be and the same is hereby rescinded; and be it further |
15 | RESOLVED, That said legislative commission created by resolution No. 360 passed by |
16 | the Senate at its January session, A.D. 2017, and approved June 30, 2017, is hereby amended by |
17 | deleting on page 2, line 13 the language "therefore be it" and by inserting in place thereof the |
18 | language: |

2 | WHEREAS, "Maintenance of certification (MOC)" is a continuous professional |
3 | development program through which physicians certified by one or more of the medical specialty |
4 | boards; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Maintenance of certification is controversial and is of concern to some |
6 | physicians; now, therefore be it" and be it further |
7 | RESOLVED, That said legislative commission created by resolution No. 360 passed by |
8 | the Senate at its January session, A.D. 2017, and approved June 30, 2017, is hereby amended by |
9 | adding the following language on page 2, following line 25; |
10 | "That said legislative commission shall also consider the issue of maintenance of |
11 | certification while examining the advisability of Rhode Island joining the Interstate Medical |
12 | Licensure Compact." |

3 | Compact from June 1, 2018, to January 1, 2019, and said commission would expire on January |
4 | 31, 2019, and would expand the purpose and findings of fact for said resolution. |
