EXPRESSING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF HARRY M. ROBINSON,

JR.

     WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Harry

2

M. Robinson, Jr., devoted husband of Marlene Robinson, beloved father of Julie Ann Hayes and

3

her husband, Steven, and Mary Mullin Murphy and her husband, Stephen, and the cherished

4

grandfather of Elizabeth “Lizzie” Hayes, who was truly the light of his life; and

5

     WHEREAS, Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, Mr. Robinson was the son of the late

6

Julia and Harry Robinson, Sr., and the brother of the late Janet Robinson and Mary Robinson; and

7

     WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson was a graduate of La Salle Academy, Saint Anselm College,

8

and Fordham University. He joined the faculty at Bryant University in 1966, and subsequently

9

served as a Professor Emeritus in the Science Department until his retirement in 2011; and

10

     WHEREAS, Active in the community, Mr. Robinson served on the Warwick City

11

Council from 1984 through 1986, representing the people of the 9th Ward. He also served our

12

country honorably in the United States Navy Reserves; and

13

     WHEREAS, Harry Robinson led a full and rewarding life. He was an avid reader, sailor

14

and competitive tennis player, but watching his granddaughter play field hockey and lacrosse was

15

one of his greatest joys. He was also a member of the East Greenwich Yacht Club, the Warwick

16

Height’s Tennis Club, had been a coach for several youth sports leagues, and for fifty years, had

17

been a Communicant of St. Gregory the Great Church; and

18

     WHEREAS, There is no doubt that Harry Robinson left this world a far better place

19

because of his life’s endeavors. He was a steadfast gentleman and a loving family man who

enriched the lives of all who knew him and he will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it

2

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

3

hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Harry M. Robinson, Jr.; and be it

4

further

5

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

6

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Marlene Robinson and Family.
