H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

THANKING THE HONORABLE ROBERT B. LANCIA FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE

PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert B. Lancia was first elected in November of 2014, and

served in the Rhode Island House of Representatives for four years, as the Representative for

District 16, representing neighborhoods in the City of Cranston; and

     WHEREAS, A graduate of Cranston High School East, Representative Lancia continued

his education receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Rhode Island College, a Master of Divinity

degree from Andover Newton Theological School, a Doctor of Divinity degree from United

Theological Seminary, and a Master of Arts in religion and psychology from Andover Newton

Theological School. He is a former Navy chaplain and disabled veteran, retired; and

     WHEREAS, During his tenure at the State House, Representative Lancia was a member

of the House Committee on Health, Education and Welfare, the House Committee on

Environment and Natural Resources, and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, and worked

tirelessly to find innovative ways to cut wasteful state government spending; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Lancia is the devoted husband of Maryann, and together

they have three children, Lisa, Scott and Amy, and seven grandchildren. He is a member of the

Greater Cranston Chamber of Commerce, the Disabled American Veterans, the Military Officers

Association of America and the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and

     WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert B. Lancia brought wisdom and a tremendous work

ethic to the General Assembly during his years in office. His service to the citizens of Cranston

and the state, has ultimately made Rhode Island a better place to live and flourish; now, therefore

be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby honors and thanks Representative Robert B. Lancia for four years

of dedicated service enriching the quality of life for all the citizens of Rhode Island. We wish him

the very best health, happiness and success in all his future endeavors; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Robert B. Lancia.
