THE 2018-2019 BOYS' CROSS COUNTRY COACH OF THE YEAR BY THE NATIONAL | |

1 | WHEREAS, For the past twenty years the National High School Coaches Association |
2 | has honored high achieving head coaches annually in twenty boys' and girls' sports. Recently, |
3 | they announced that Jim Doyle of Bishop Hendricken High School was named the 2018-2019 |
4 | National High School Boys' Cross Country Coach of the Year in honor and recognition of his |
5 | decades of excellent coaching not only in Boys' Cross Country but also the Indoor and Outdoor |
6 | Track & Field Teams at Bishop Hendricken; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Bishop Hendricken has won twenty-four Rhode Island Cross Country State |
8 | Championships, with twenty of those teams having been coached by Jim Doyle. His most recent |
9 | Championship occurred in 2018, with his team going on to finish in fourth place at the prestigious |
10 | Nike Cross Nationals hosted in Oregon; and |
11 | WHEREAS, During his illustrious coaching career, Coach Doyle has won more than fifty |
12 | State Championships in cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field, a record few high |
13 | school coaches anywhere in the United States can equal; and |
14 | WHEREAS, In honor and recognition of Jim Doyle's coaching prowess and success, he |
15 | was inducted into the Rhode Island Interscholastic Athletic Hall of Fame. He was also named the |
16 | 2018 Rhode Island Cross Country Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and |
17 | Cross Country Coaches Association. When honoring Coach Doyle, Eric Hess, the Executive |
18 | Director of the National High School Coaches Association, said, "He has established Bishop |
19 | Hendricken as one of the top Cross Country programs in Rhode Island and the nation. He exhibits |

1 | a strong dedication to supporting and developing his high school student-athletes in the classroom |
2 | and outside of it"; now, therefore be it |
3 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
4 | Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Bishop Hendricken Coach Jim Doyle on being |
5 | named the 2018-2019 Boys' Cross Country Coach of the Year by the National High School |
6 | Coaches Association; and be it further |
7 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
8 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Coach Jim Doyle, Bishop Hendricken. |
