H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING PROFOUND SYMPATHY ON THE PASSING OF DONALD J. MARONEY,

ESQ.

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House of Representatives has learned of the

passing of Donald J. Maroney, Esq., devoted husband of Donna Maroney, and the loving father of

Donald, Jackie, Jennifer, and Cory; and

     WHEREAS, Born in Providence, Donald was a son of the late Stephen and Dorothy

Maroney and the brother of a twin, Dennis, and Stephen, Mary Anne, Kevin, Patricia, and the late

Edward Maroney. He was a graduate of Providence College and Bryant University, and had

earned his Juris Doctor at Vermont School of Law; and

     WHEREAS, Upon graduating and passing the Bar, Donald became a partner at the firm

of Kelly, Kelleher, Reilly and Simpson, where he worked for more than thirty years. He had also

proudly served as solicitor to the Towns of North Kingstown and Narragansett, and was admired

and respected by his peers for his legal drafting abilities during his tenure on the staff of the

Office of Legislative Council to the General Assembly; and

     WHEREAS, Always a devoted family man, Don took great pride in keeping his yard

manicured to perfection, and spending quality time vacationing with his wife and children; and

     WHEREAS, Donald Maroney possessed an astute legal mind, and an independent and

magnanimous spirit, and his "words of wisdom" will be profoundly missed by those who had the

good fortune to be a part of his vital and fulfilling life; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies to the entire Maroney Family on

the passing of Donald J. Maroney, Esq.; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Donna Maroney and Family.
