EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE JUSTICE

LOUIS E. AZAR

     WHEREAS, The Honorable Louis Azar of Lincoln, passed away on March 29, 2019. He

2

was the beloved husband of the late Marie Azar; and

3

     WHEREAS, Judge Azar was born in Central Falls, a son of the late Joseph and Ella Azar,

4

and had lived in Lincoln for the last 51 years. He was a graduate of Central Falls High School and

5

attained a Bachelor’s degree from Providence College and a Juris Doctorate from Boston

6

University School of Law; and

7

     WHEREAS, A distinguished lawyer, who had a law practice in Pawtucket for more than

8

fifty years, Judge Azar was appointed to serve as a Probate Judge in the City of Central Falls and

9

also served as a Judge Advocate in the United States Army; and

10

     WHEREAS, Judge Azar served for twenty-five years as a member of the Lincoln Town

11

Democratic Committee, was the Past-President of the Pawtucket Bar Association, and was a

12

communicant of the Church of St. Basil the Great. He was a man of integrity who served the

13

public with tireless dedication. He was also a devoted family man and a great friend to many; and

14

     WHEREAS, Judge Azar is survived by his children, Pamela Azar, Patricia Antonelli,

15

Priscilla Azar, Paula Wilson, Louis Azar, Jr., and his wife, Patricia, and Dr. Anthony Azar, and

16

his wife, Dawn. He is also survived by his siblings Barbara Deeb, Joseph Azar, Jr., and Robert

17

Azar. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Alexander Elias Azar, Surrey Azar, Richard

18

Wilson, David Wilson, Don-Anthony Azar, his sister-in-law, Arabella Melucci, several nieces

19

and nephews, and family friend, Kathie Toner. He was the father of the late Richard Azar; now,

therefore be it

2

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

3

Providence Plantations hereby expresses its condolences on the passing of the Honorable Louis E.

4

Azar; and be it further

5

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

6

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Pamela M. Azar, Patricia A. Antonelli, Priscilla

7

A. Azar, Paula Wilson, Louis E. Azar, Jr., and Dr. Anthony C. Azar.
