HONORING JOSEPH A. NAGLE ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT

     WHEREAS, For almost three decades, Joseph Nagle has served as President and Chief

Executive Officer of Delta Dental of Rhode Island, the state's leading dental benefit provider; and

     WHEREAS, During his tenure at the helm of Delta Dental, Mr. Nagle has envisioned and

implemented the company's extraordinary strategic diversification and has advanced the

company's commitment to philanthropy with more than $10 million contributed to various

charities over the last decade; and

     WHEREAS, Utilizing careful financial stewardship and strategic thinking, Mr. Nagle has

also ensured the company's unprecedented growth exemplified by the tripling of membership, and

an increase in the company's financial reserves to $137 million, with annual revenues surpassing

$270 million; and

     WHEREAS, Prior to joining Delta Dental in 1992, Mr. Nagle was a founding partner of

The Capstone Group, a Providence-based healthcare consulting firm, and had previously held

executive roles at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island and United Health Plans of New

England; and

     WHEREAS, Under his diligent leadership, Joseph Nagle has made enormous

contributions to both the health and well-being of many Rhode Islanders and the financial health

of this state; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby honors Joseph A. Nagle on the occasion of his retirement and

thanks him for a job well done. We moreover wish him good health, much happiness, and success

in all his future endeavors; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Joseph A. Nagle.
