HONORING AND THANKING ANN M. HOLLANDS ON THE OCCASION OF HER

RETIREMENT AFTER MORE THAN FORTY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE IN THE

FIELD OF REAL ESTATE AND TO THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, To the very good fortune of many a Rhode Islander, Ann Hollands began

2

her distinguished career with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) on

3

October 1st of 1995 as the Assistant Director of Transportation. In March of 1999, she was

4

named Administrator for Property Management and Real Estate, and on October 1st of 2015, she

5

became the Administrator for Real Estate with the Department; and

6

     WHEREAS, Ms. Hollands came to RIDOT with myriad years of business acumen and

7

numerous outstanding qualifications. In 1978, she had founded and served as President and

8

Principal Broker of East Bay Associates which became one of the top producing real estate

9

companies on the East Bay, and in 1992, she founded and served as President of Northeast Real

10

Estate Appraisal Professionals, Ltd.; and

11

     WHEREAS, Respected and honored by her peers, Ms. Hollands has had numerous

12

professional affiliations throughout her career including, being named President of the Rhode

13

Island Chapter Appraisal Institute in 1995 and 2009, serving as Director and Past President of the

14

Greater Providence Board of Realtors, being a member of the Rhode Island Builders Association

15

and the National Association of Realtors, attaining the MAI designation and in 2013, was

16

awarded the "State Implementation of the Year: Rhode Island Department of Transportation" at

17

the VUEWorks Annual User Conference in 2017 for her participation with VUEWorks over the

18

course of 2016; and

19

     WHEREAS, In addition, Ms. Hollands has been very active and dedicated to her

community. She has been a member of the Bristol Fourth of July Committee, served as Director

2

and President of the Bristol Foundation from 1992 through 1994, and is a past President of the

3

Bristol Republican Party; and

4

     WHEREAS, Ms. Hollands and her husband, Bill McGovern, make their home in the

5

Town of Bristol. They are the proud parents and grandparents of a large and loving blended

6

family. As consummate boaters, the couple will no doubt be spending many, many hours touring

7

on their 36-foot Grand Banks "Mist Approach" or socializing with friends at the Wharf Tavern;

8

and

9

     WHEREAS, Ann Hollands is an exceptional woman who upon her retirement, has left a

10

legacy of dedicated and conscientious civic service, and she is enormously worthy of our

11

recognition and gratitude; now, therefore be it

12

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

13

Providence Plantations hereby honors and thanks Ann Hollands for forty years of dedicated

14

service to the people of the State of Rhode Island and wishes her a most happy, healthy, and

15

enjoyable retirement; and be it further

16

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

17

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Ann Hollands.
