S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF FRANK CICCONE, II

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Frank

2

Ciccone, II, beloved husband of the late Elmira Ciccone, cherished father of our friend and

3

colleague the Honorable Frank Ciccone, III, and the late Robert T. Ciccone, loving father-in-law

4

of Elena, and the very proud grandfather of Carla and her husband, John Rose; and

5

     WHEREAS, Frank Ciccone II, was born into the large and loving family of Francesco

6

and Filomena Ciccone. He worked as a mechanic in the Silver Lake area of Providence until

7

joining the United States Army in 1941, where he was a forward observer unit radio operator

8

attached to the 172nd Infantry Combat Team. He saw combat in Munda, Rendova Island,

9

Arundel in the Georgia Island group, and subsequently in Aitape, New Guinea, where troops

10

were preparing for the invasion of the Philippines. He later landed in Luzon and went on to

11

Rosario. He served our nation with honor for which he received several medals; and

12

     WHEREAS, Upon returning from his World War II service, Mr. Ciccone returned to his

13

employment as a mechanic and enrolled in Drafting and Architectural Graphic Standards classes

14

at the Rhode Island School of Design. Together with his brother, Tom, Mr. Ciccone formed a

15

construction company that built homes in Dean Estates, the Larchmont Road area of Warwick

16

and East Greenwich, and ultimately built the motel at the junction of Route 95 and Route 3 in

17

Coventry; and

18

     WHEREAS, Always a hardworking man, Mr. Ciccone went on to become the

19

Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds at Rhode Island Hospital, a position he relished until

20

his retirement. Enjoying his leisure time, Mr. Ciccone would regularly join his longtime friends at

the Saint Mary's Feast Society for daily card games and often traveled with his wife and friends to

2

Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos; and

3

     WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Ciccone was a lifetime communicant of Saint Bartholomew

4

Church, and a member of the Saint Mary's Feast Society and the Rosario Society; and

5

     WHEREAS, Our thoughts and hearts hold great empathy and sorrow for Mr. Ciccone's

6

family. He was a beloved family man, a loyal friend, and a man of deep faith, who will be sadly

7

missed by his two Rottweilers Rocco and Josie, and all who were fortunate to be part of his

8

extraordinary life; now therefore be it

9

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

10

hereby expresses our deepest sympathies to the entire Ciccone Family on the passing of Frank

11

Ciccone, II; and be it further

12

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

13

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Honorable Frank Ciccone, III, and Family.
