S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING PROFOUND SYMPATHY ON THE PASSING DOROTHY E. GALLAGHER

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of

Dorothy E. Gallagher, beloved wife of William Gallagher, Sr. for sixty-two years, cherished

mother of William Gallagher, Jr., Patricia Lombardo and her husband, our friend and colleague,

the Honorable Frank Lombardo, and Colleen Jacobs and her husband, Alan. She was also the

doting grandmother of Alexis Desloge, Colin Jacobs, Frank Lombardo and Victoria Lombardo,

and great-grandmother of Landon Lombardo, Liella Lombardo and William Desloge; and

     WHEREAS, Born in Providence, Mrs. Gallagher was the devoted daughter of the late

Anthony and Florence Mercier, and the sister of Phyllis Noke. She had been a longtime resident

of the Town of Smithfield; and

     WHEREAS, In addition to making a wonderful home for her family, Mrs. Gallagher had

been employed as a bus monitor for the Town of Smithfield, worked as a switchboard operator

for the New England Telephone Co., and had been active in the community as a member of the

Smithfield Democratic Town Committee; and

     WHEREAS, There is no doubt that Dorothy Gallagher, a loving wife, mother,

grandmother and great-grandmother, enriched the lives of all she knew and loved, and she will be

dearly missed; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Dorothy E. Gallagher; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to William Gallagher, Sr. and Family, and the

Honorable Frank Lombardo and Family.
