EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF CAROL BOSCIA | |

1 | WHEREAS, Carol Boscia passed away on January 22, 2019, surrounded by her adoring |
2 | family. She was the devoted wife of the late Carmeno P. Boscia; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Carol Boscia was born in Providence, the daughter of the late Michael and |
4 | Anna Catone. She was a graduate of the Central High School Class of 1957. She was a Registered |
5 | Dietician Nutritionist for Dr. Richard Baronian before deciding to serve her family exclusively as |
6 | a wife, mother and grandmother; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Boscia was born with lipoma in her thoracic spine and had surgery for |
8 | it at age 14. Her condition was such that any further surgery would put her at great risk of |
9 | becoming a quadriplegic. Yet even as her ambulation declined, she persisted in taking care of her |
10 | family and finding a way to move around, starting with a cane, then a walker, a scooter, and |
11 | finally a wheelchair in which she was dubbed “Mama Wheels”; and |
12 | WHEREAS, She was admired by many people for many things, including her beauty, |
13 | which was compared to Elizabeth Taylor, but what so many admired about her the most was her |
14 | refusal to give in to her illness. Despite her daily limitations, and the pain and discomfort that |
15 | were part of her everyday life, she persisted in loving and serving her family and being a part of |
16 | her community. From attending her grandchildren’s many sporting activities, serving her family |
17 | and friends her delicious meatballs, to getting her hair done at Butchie’s or sunbathing in her |
18 | driveway, she lived life to the fullest. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her; |

20 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Boscia leaves behind her daughter Gina Bogda and her husband, Ted, |

1 | and her sons Carmen and his wife, Mona, and Michael and his wife, Dawn. She is also survived |
2 | by her grandchildren, Carmen, Bianca, Milan, Giovanna, Dean, Arianna, Michael, and Luca. She |
3 | also leaves behind her brother, Michael Catone, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Anthony |
4 | and Lucille, Raymond and Joany, Richard and Angela, and Marie, wife of the late Joseph Boscia. |
5 | Mrs. Boscia was preceded in death by her brothers and sister-in-law, Gino and Elaine Catone, and |
6 | Frank Catone; now, therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
8 | hereby expresses its condolences to the Boscia Family on the passing of Carol Boscia; and be it |
9 | further |
10 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
11 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Gina Bogda, Carmen Boscia and Michael |
12 | Boscia. |
