EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF DENNIS MICHAEL LAVALLEE | |

1 | WHEREAS, Dennis Michael Lavallee was born in Providence, a son of Elizabeth and the |
2 | late Hervey "Hank" Lavallee; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Mr. Lavallee was raised in North Providence in a home full of love, laughter |
4 | and joy. He was the fourth child of Hervey "Hank" Lavallee, a roadway truck driver, and |
5 | Elizabeth "Betty" Lavallee, a teacher's aide and devoted homemaker; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Dennis was a good student who excelled in numerous sports, including |
7 | basketball, baseball, and especially football where he was a standout athlete who shined on both |
8 | sides of the line throughout his remarkable high school career. One of the highlights of his |
9 | athletic experience was being coached by his father through several successful Pop Warner |
10 | seasons; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Dennis Lavallee's life was forever changed for the better when he met the |
12 | love of his life Claudia and her daughter, Taylor. Claudia and he were soon married and lived for |
13 | a period of time in North Providence before settling in Lincoln, where they welcomed two new |
14 | additions to their family, a son, Hank and a daughter, Reese; and |
15 | WHEREAS, Mr. Lavallee was a proud member of Teamsters Local 251 for twenty-five |
16 | years, working as a driver at McLaughlin & Moran, where his peers elected him union steward. |
17 | He was also hired by Local 251 in 2015 to run its Driving School. As their Lead Instructor, he |
18 | trained dozens of truck drivers. In recognition of his service and commitment to Local 251, he |
19 | was elected Trustee in 2016, and had served as its Assistant Business Agent for the last two years; |

1 | WHEREAS, Dennis's first priority in life was always his family. In addition to his full- |
2 | time job, he co-owned and managed a tanning salon in order to better provide for his family. He |
3 | always found time for his family, whether he was working on countless home improvement |
4 | projects or just spending quality time with his wife and children; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Dennis also volunteered working as a Local 251 Charity Fund Trustee, |
6 | helping to run and host events that benefitted the children of teamsters and those in need in the |
7 | wider community; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Dennis Michael Lavallee also leaves behind his siblings, Hervey E. |
9 | Lavallee, III, and Tammy M. Beaudreault and her husband, James. He was predeceased by his |
10 | sister, Denise Ann Lavallee; now, therefore be it |
11 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
12 | hereby expresses its condolences to the Lavallee Family on the passing of Dennis Michael |
13 | Lavallee; and be it further |
14 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
15 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Claudia Lavallee and Family. |
