A N   A C T

RELATING TO LABOR AND LABOR RELATIONS -- MINIMUM WAGES

     

     Introduced By: Senators Lawson, Euer, Goodwin, McCaffrey, and Ruggerio

     Referred To: Senate Labor

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 28-12 of the General Laws entitled "Minimum Wages" is hereby

amended by adding thereto the following section:

     28-12-3.3. Minimum wages for health care workers.

     Commencing July 1, 2019, every covered health care employer with eighteen (18) or

5

more employees that either receives five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) or more in funding

6

annually from the state or pays an executive one million dollars ($1,000,000) or more annually in

7

total compensation shall pay each of its employees no less than fifteen dollars ($15.00) per hour.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

OF

     This act would provide that every health care employer with at least eighteen (18)
