S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF LOIS FRANCES LANNI

     

     Introduced By: Senators Lombardi, Gallo, Miller, Conley, and Archambault

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Lois Frances Lanni, the beloved wife of former Cranston Council

2

President, the Honorable John E. Lanni, Jr., passed away on January 22, 2019. They had been

3

married for thirty-eight years; and

4

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Lanni was born in Providence on May 31, 1942, the daughter of Harry

5

Vito Mercurio and Angela Mercurio. She was a hard-working woman who was employed by the

6

City of Cranston for nineteen years. She was a devoted wife and mother who provided a warm

7

and nurturing home for her family. She was also a doting grandmother to her three grandchildren;

8

and

9

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Lanni was very active in her church in a variety of capacities including

10

as a communicant, as a member of the St. Mary’s Feast Society’s Ladies Auxiliary, and as a

11

supporter of St. Mary’s annual church raffle. She also served her community as the Vice-

12

President of the Ladies Cooney Post Auxiliary, as a former member of the Cranston Democratic

13

Women’s Political Caucus, and as a member of the Santa Maria DiPrata Women’s Auxiliary; and

14

     WHEREAS, In addition to her husband, John, Mrs. Lanni leaves behind her son, John E.

15

Lanni, III, and his wife, Denise. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Angelina, Juliana and

16

John IV, and her brothers-in-law, Edward DiMuccio, James Lanni and his wife, Marie, David

17

Lanni and his wife, Josette, and Robert Lanni. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews;

18

now, therefore be it

19

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

20

hereby expresses its condolences to the Lanni Family on the passing of Mrs. Lois Frances Lanni;

and be it further

2

     RESOLVED That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

3

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable John E. Lanni, Jr., and Family.
