It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Section 42-9-19 of the General Laws in Chapter 42-9 entitled "Department |
2 | of Attorney General" is hereby amended to read as follows: |
3 | 42-9-19. Acceptance of settlements -- Attorney General settlement restricted |
4 | account. |
5 | The attorney general is hereby authorized and empowered to accept in the name of the |
6 | state any settlement resulting from a multi-state initiative. Such settlement proceeds shall be |
7 | transferred to the general treasurer for deposit in the general fund. The general treasurer shall |
8 | transfer ten percent (10%) twenty-five percent (25%) of such proceeds, up to sixty-five thousand |
9 | dollars ($65,000) in any fiscal year, to the "attorney general multi-state initiative account." The |
10 | restricted account shall be used solely to pay for any fees or membership dues associated with |
11 | multi-state initiatives. |
12 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |

3 | settlements and eliminate the cap of sixty-five thousand dollars ($65,000) and restrictions on |

5 | This act would take effect upon passage. |
