RELATING TO GENERAL ASSEMBLY -- ELECTRONIC VOTING | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Section 22-3-18 of the General Laws in Chapter 22-3 entitled "Organization |
2 | of General Assembly" is hereby amended to read as follows: |
3 | 22-3-18. Electronic voting. |
4 | (a) For the purpose of receiving and recording the vote of members of the general |
5 | assembly pursuant to the rules of the senate and the house of representatives, the joint committee |
6 | on legislative services shall provide for the senate and house of representatives an electronic |
7 | device or devices for the use by the members of the general assembly in casting and recording |
8 | votes. |
9 | (b) The joint committee on legislative services shall make the record of the vote available |
10 | to the public electronically not later than thirty (30) minutes following the casting of said vote, |
11 | and shall similarly provide the record of said vote electronically to the secretary of state. |
12 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
