RECOGNIZING DONNA MARTIN'S FOURTEEN YEARS OF EXEMPLARY SERVICE AS | |
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY PROVIDER NETWORK OF RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, To the immense good fortune of many Rhode Islanders, Donna Martin took |
2 | the helm as Executive Director of Community Provider Network of Rhode Island (CPNRI) |
3 | fourteen years ago, creating a long range plan for system advocacy that has elevated the |
4 | Network's ability to provide and collaborate services to Rhode Island's developmental disability |
5 | community; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Currently, CPNRI represents twenty-one private providers of a wide array |
7 | of high quality, cost effective services and supports to more than 3,000 people throughout the |
8 | state; and |
9 | WHEREAS, During her tenure, Ms. Martin is credited with creating CPNRI’s first long |
10 | range plan for system advocacy, led the Network's board through the creation of a solid strategic |
11 | plan to navigate catastrophic economic times, and connected Rhode Island's provider associations |
12 | with provider associations in other states as well as the national association, which allowed for |
13 | the sharing of best practices with colleagues around the country; and |
14 | WHEREAS, In addition, Ms. Martin has led the development and establishment of the RI |
15 | Pooled Trust which provides a vehicle for people with disabilities to secure funds obtained |
16 | through inheritance, settlements, gifts, etc. The cost of individual trusts are often unaffordable for |
17 | many people and this fund was developed to be affordable and easily accessible; and |
18 | WHEREAS, Ms. Martin has also created and maintained strong ties with the Governor’s |
19 | office and the Legislature, thereby earning recognition as the entity\specialists in all areas |

1 | pertaining to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities; and |
2 | WHEREAS, Professionally well-respected by her peers, Ms. Martin has presented to the |
3 | National Association of Developmental Disabilities Directors and in various states through |
4 | ANCOR (American Network of Community Organizations and Resources); and |
5 | WHEREAS, Ms. Martin’s successes haven’t simply been the result of good fortune, but |
6 | have moreover been due to her immense talents, intellectual aptitude, and focus, and she is |
7 | eminently worthy of our gratitude and recognition; now, therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
9 | hereby honors and thanks Donna Martin for her fourteen years of dedicated service as the |
10 | Executive Director of Community Provider Network of Rhode Island. We furthermore wish her |
11 | continued success, fulfillment, and good health; and be it further |
12 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
13 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Donna Martin. |
