RECOGNIZING AND HONORING LOUIS GIANCOLA FOR HIS EIGHTEEN YEARS OF | |
DEDICATED SERVICE WITH SOUTH COUNTY HEALTH | |

1 | WHEREAS, Louis Giancola, South County Health President and CEO, is retiring after |
2 | nearly two decades of commitment and dedicated service advancing the scope and capability of |
3 | South County Health to provide high quality compassionate care with superior outcomes and |
4 | excellent service to the community; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Mr. Giancola joined the staff at South County Health in 2000, previously |
6 | serving as Chief Operating Officer of Lahey Health and Women & Infants Hospital. He had |
7 | begun his career in Health management in 1992, and had worked in Rhode Island since 1992; and |
8 | WHEREAS, During his tenure with South County Health, Mr. Giancola is credited with |
9 | fostering major improvements in the areas of patient care and financial stability, as well as |
10 | advancing major expansion and growth; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Providing invaluable leadership, Mr. Giancola brought community leaders |
12 | together, forming partnerships to explore and provide various initiatives and approaches to better |
13 | serving the community; and |
14 | WHEREAS, During his years at the helm, Mr. Giancola spearheaded the construction of |
15 | the three-story Frost Family Pavilion, the creation of the Orthopedics Center, renovation of a |
16 | state-of-the-art Cancer Center and Women & Newborn Care Unit, and the addition of the Medical |
17 | & Wellness Center in Westerly, to name but a few of his many accomplishments; and |
18 | WHEREAS, Louis Giancola's commitment to excellence in health care is renowned, and |
19 | his devotion to community and civic interests has been unwavering and heartfelt; now, therefore |

2 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
3 | hereby honors Louis Giancola for his years of conscientious and passionate service as CEO and |
4 | President of South County Health. We furthermore wish him continued health, happiness, and |
5 | much success in all his future endeavors; and be it further |
6 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and direct to |
7 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Louis Giancola. |
