S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF JANICE D. MELE

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Janice

2

D. Mele, beloved wife of the late John "Jay" Mele, who was the love of her life, and the cherished

3

mother of Alicia Mele-Bendza and her husband, Irek, and Amanda Mele; and

4

     WHEREAS, Born in Providence, Mrs. Mele was the daughter of the late Vincent

5

Acciardo and Gladys Rossi, and the dear sister-in-law of Robert and Donna Mele, Joseph and

6

Kathy Mele, and Dante Mele; and

7

     WHEREAS, With a loving personality, Mrs. Mele created and nurtured a marriage that

8

flourished, and a home that was warm and welcoming. She doted on her family, particularly her

9

grandchildren Olyvia, Landon, and Ella Jay, who were the light of her life; and

10

     WHEREAS, A strong voice for children and education, Mrs. Mele served as the

11

Chairwoman for the Johnston School Committee, and was also the librarian at St. Thomas School

12

and was active with the St. Thomas PTA for many years before her retirement; and

13

     WHEREAS, There is no doubt that Janice Mele, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and

14

friend to many, left an indelible mark on the lives of those she knew and loved, and she will be

15

dearly missed; now, therefore be it

16

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

17

hereby expresses our deepest sympathies to the Mele and Acciardo Families on the passing of

18

Janice D. Mele; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

2

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Alicia Mele-Bendza and Family, and Amanda

3

Mele.
