EXTENDING HEARTFELT CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF SANFORD TULLY | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of |
2 | Sanford Tully, beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Tully, and the devoted father of Jeffrey |
3 | Tully and daughter-in-law, April, Joseph Tully, our colleague Jeffrey Del Gigante, and his ever- |
4 | faithful companion, Fenway; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Sanford Tully, affectionately known as "Sandy" by his family and many |
6 | friends, was born in the City of Providence, the son of the late Vincent Tully and Marilyn Morris, |
7 | and the brother of four sisters; and |
8 | WHEREAS, For twenty years, Mr. Tully had been a North Kingstown Firefighter, facing |
9 | the flames and protecting the community, and for many of those years, had served as the |
10 | President of Firefighters' Local #1651; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Always active in the community, Mr. Tully had been a long-time |
12 | Coach/Manager and was the past President of the North Kingstown American Little League. He |
13 | had also served as the Chairman and was a long-time member of the North Kingstown |
14 | Democratic Town Committee, as well as a member of the state Democratic Committee and most |
15 | recently, served on the Board of Canvassers; and |
16 | WHEREAS, In recognition of his dedication to the community, Mr. Tully was awarded a |
17 | Certificate of Accomplishment from the United States Senate, which was presented by Senator |
18 | Jack Reed, and had received a Citation of Congratulations and Gratitude and the Key to the Town |
19 | for his service as a firefighter from the Town of North Kingstown; and |
20 | WHEREAS, Mr. Tully was the proud grandfather of Jeffrey Jr., Ethan, Kyle, Kora, |

1 | Collin, Liam, Lilly, Jaicen, Austin and the late Nicholas and Irish. He had loved history, |
2 | particularly stories about WWII, JFK, and the Space Program, and was an avid fan of the Red |
3 | Sox, Patriots and Boston Bruins; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Words are inadequate to express the respect and esteem that Sandy Tully |
5 | held in his community. He was an extraordinary individual and a steadfast gentleman, and he |
6 | enriched the lives of all who knew him; now, therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
8 | hereby extends deepest sympathies on the passing of Sanford Tully. We moreover hope that |
9 | someday the tides of time will replace the sadness in the hearts of his loved ones with warm |
10 | memories to comfort them; and be it further |
11 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
12 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Jeffrey Tully, Joseph Tully, and Jeffrey Del |
13 | Gigante. |
