EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF EDWARD F. | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Edward |
2 | F. Donnelly, Jr., the devoted husband for forty-one years to the late Patricia Ann "Pam" Donnelly, |
3 | the loving father of Edward Donnelly, III, Sean Donnelly and his wife, Liz, Meredith Donnelly |
4 | and her wife, Jenn, the late Patricia Donnelly, and a baby son. He was also the very proud |
5 | grandfather of Shannon Donnelly, Molly Kate Donnelly, Henry Donnelly, and George Donnelly; |
6 | and |
7 | WHEREAS, Edward Donnelly, better known as "Ted" by his family and many friends, |
8 | was born in Providence, a son of the late Edward and Helen Donnelly, and the brother of Ellen |
9 | Donnelly, Sally Donnelly, Mary Donnelly, Thomas Donnelly, James Donnelly, Paul Donnelly, |
10 | Robert Donnelly, and Kevin Donnelly; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Mr. Donnelly was a graduate of LaSalle Academy and Providence College, |
12 | and had worked for Citizens Bank for thirty-five years, retiring as an Assistant Vice President in |
13 | 2005. During his years with the bank, he had earned a degree in Bank Administration from the |
14 | University of Wisconsin; and |
15 | WHEREAS, A proud alumnus of Providence College, Mr. Donnelly remained a season |
16 | ticket holder to both the school's Men's Basketball and Men's Hockey programs and was a |
17 | member of the Mal Brown Club, where he ultimately served as the organization's President; and |
18 | WHEREAS, Blessed with a large and loyal circle of friends, Mr. Donnelly had very |
19 | much enjoyed spending time with them at parties, playing golf, cards, or going out to eat, but |

1 | perhaps his favorite pastime was spending days at the beach. In his youth, he had summered in |
2 | Bonnet Shores with his parents and siblings and once he had his own family, he purchased a |
3 | home on Harbor Island to instill the same memories and passion in his children. Upon his |
4 | retirement, he opted "to stay warm" spending his winters in Tavernier, Florida; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Mr. Donnelly was also exceptionally fond of his Irish ancestry. He was a |
6 | member of the Ceilidhe Club of RI and Ireland's 32 Society, and had taken over a dozen trips to |
7 | the Emerald Isle with his wife, family and friends, and so it is apropos to quote the Irish blessing, |
8 | "Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand"; now, therefore be it |
9 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
10 | hereby extends deepest condolences on the passing of Edward F. Donnelly, Jr. He will be fondly |
11 | remembered and always missed; and be it further |
12 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
13 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Edward Donnelly, III, Sean Donnelly, and |
14 | Meredith Donnelly. |
