CONGRATULATING MOLLY ANDRADE ON BEING NAMED "MISS RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, Accomplished young women from across Rhode Island competed in the |
2 | annual 2019 Miss Rhode Island Pageant in Providence on May 5, 2019; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Middletown's own homegrown beauty, Molly Andrade, took home the title, |
4 | the first winner from her hometown since 1977; and |
5 | WHEREAS, A 2017 graduate of Middletown High School, Ms. Andrade currently |
6 | attends Endicott College where she is majoring in Business Management; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Ms. Andrade is triple blessed. She is not only a celebrated beauty, but her |
8 | endearing personality earned her the acclaim of her peers, who voted to name her Miss |
9 | Congeniality at the Pageant; and |
10 | WHEREAS, In addition, Ms. Andrade is talented and accomplished in Irish Step |
11 | Dancing. Having begun taking lessons at the age of nine, she has performed at the World |
12 | Championships, and won the dance talent award as well as overall talent during the Miss Rhode |
13 | Island competition; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Ms. Andrade's Pageant platform is also highly commendable. She |
15 | championed self-defense for women as a means of empowerment, with her social impact |
16 | initiative, 12 Hours Could Save A Life: Combatting Sexual Assault. She hopes to encourage |
17 | young women to gain confidence, develop leadership skills, and learn the power and lessons of |
18 | success as well as failure, and would like to implement a self-defense program in Rhode Island |
19 | High Schools; and |

1 | WHEREAS, As the winner of Miss Rhode Island 2019, Ms. Andrade received an official |
2 | crown and sash, a $5,000 scholarship, a $1,000 community service scholarship, a full year of hair |
3 | and makeup services, and numerous gift certificates and personal training; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Ms. Andrade also received the Miracle Maker Award, for the second year in |
5 | a row, for her efforts in raising the most money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, |
6 | and the privilege and honor of representing the Ocean State at the 2019 Miss America |
7 | Competition in Atlantic City, New Jersey; now, therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
9 | hereby congratulates Molly Andrade on being named Miss Rhode Island 2019. We wish her |
10 | much happiness, good health, and continued success in September's Pageant and in all her future |
11 | endeavors; and be it further |
12 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
13 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Molly Andrade. |
