HONORING AND THANKING LOUIS J. SPREMULLI FOR HIS NEARLY THIRTY YEARS | |
OF DEVOTED AND EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, Mr. Louis Spremulli began his distinguished public service career with the |
2 | State of Rhode Island on February 5, 1990, as a part-time Interviewer with the Department of |
3 | Labor at its Woonsocket Unemployment Office. Shortly thereafter, he worked his way up to a |
4 | permanent position as a full-time Interviewer in the Providence office; and |
5 | WHEREAS, At the same time he was working his job during the day, Mr. Spremulli |
6 | attended computer science and technology classes during the evening. At the time, he was ahead |
7 | of the curve and recognized that computers and technological innovation were going to forever |
8 | alter the typical American workplace; and |
9 | WHEREAS, As a result of his tireless work ethic, attention to detail, and newly acquired |
10 | computer and technology skills, Mr. Spremulli was promoted to the BAM Unit to serve as a |
11 | System Administrator, a position he held for ten years. He later worked for two years at the |
12 | Registry of Motor Vehicles, assisting them through a difficult transition period, and finished his |
13 | public service career as a Tech Support Representative for DOIT, the State IT, and the |
14 | Information Technology Division within the Department of Labor & Training; and |
15 | WHEREAS, Mr. Spremulli is a compassionate man at heart who has always been glad to |
16 | give a helping hand to those in need of assistance. Whether he was listening to the stories of the |
17 | unemployed and seeking ways to help them attain gainful employment, or helping a co-worker |
18 | struggling with computer or technology issues, Mr. Spremulli was the person people sought to |
19 | help them with their problems; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Mr. Spremulli was also instrumental in the creation of the Employee Sick |
2 | Bank, and served for many years on the local 401 Union Executive Board. He was a draftsman |
3 | and a talented artist before he began his public service career, and enjoyed painting pictures of his |
4 | fellow employees and gifting them his artwork; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Outside of work, Mr. Spremulli has devoted much of his time in support of |
6 | numerous charitable organizations. He served on the Board of Directors for the National Alliance |
7 | of Mental Illness (NAMI), is an active member of two Italian-American organizations, and |
8 | played a key role in having the Town of Johnston become a Sister City with the Town of Panni in |
9 | Foggia, Italy; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Louis Spremulli will long be remembered by his fellow co-workers for |
11 | being a hard worker, a cooperative person always willing to assist a taxpayer or colleague in need |
12 | of assistance, and for always having a cheerful demeanor and a smile on his face. In retirement, |
13 | he plans on continuing to promote awareness of mental health issues, to play a lot of golf, to |
14 | continue to paint, to vacation in Florida, and, most importantly, to spend quality time with his son |
15 | and family; now, therefore be it |
16 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
17 | hereby honors and thanks Louis J. Spremulli for his nearly thirty years of devoted and exemplary |
18 | service to the State of Rhode Island; and be it further |
19 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
20 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Louis Spremulli. |
