HONORING AND THANKING DR. MARK CLARK FOR HIS YEARS OF DEDICATED | |
SERVICE AS DIRECTOR OF THE BLOCK ISLAND MEDICAL CENTER | |

1 | WHEREAS, Dr. Mark Clark earned his M.D. degree from the Warren Alpert School of |
2 | Medicine at Brown University and completed his residency training in Emergency Medicine at |
3 | the Mt. Sinai St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City where he served as Chief |
4 | Resident; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Over the following twenty years, Dr. Clark served as a Board Certified |
6 | Emergency Medicine Attending Physician directing the emergency care of acutely ill and injured |
7 | adult and pediatric patients in the Emergency Departments of Roosevelt and St. Luke's Hospitals. |
8 | He also taught emergency medicine, medical ethics and physical diagnosis to medical students |
9 | and resident physicians from Columbia, Cornell, and Mount Sinai; and |
10 | WHEREAS, In 1998, Dr. Clark was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency |
11 | Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and served in that capacity |
12 | until 2014; and |
13 | WHEREAS, In addition, from 2010 through 2015, Dr. Clark served as the Emergency |
14 | Medicine Residency Program Director at Mt. Sinai St. Luke's Roosevelt and was nationally |
15 | recognized as the EMRA Residency Director of the Year in 2014; and |
16 | WHEREAS, In 2015, Dr. Clark was named Director of the Block Island Medical Center, |
17 | which provides emergent and urgent care around the clock and also provides adult and pediatric |
18 | primary care; and |
19 | WHEREAS, During his tenure, Dr. Clark is credited with improving the public image of |

1 | the Center and spearheading an expansion of services resulting in a four-year increase in patients |
2 | seeking primary care; and |
3 | WHEREAS, With kindness, dedication, and generosity of spirit, Dr. Mark Clark has |
4 | improved the health care and touched the lives of many in the Block Island community, and he is |
5 | truly worthy of our gratitude and acknowledgement; now, therefore be it |
6 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
7 | hereby recognizes and thanks Dr. Mark Clark for his years of service to the people of Block |
8 | Island. We wish him good health, fulfillment, and much success in all his future endeavors; and |
9 | be it further |
10 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
11 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Dr. Mark Clark. |
