EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE TRAGIC DEATH OF LIFELONG EAST | |

1 | WHEREAS, Mr. Daniel Pereira, a resident of Riverside, and a former United States |
2 | Marine who served our nation with honor, integrity and valor, tragically died in a motorcycle |
3 | crash in New Hampshire. He was the loving husband for twenty-seven years to his wife, Helen |
4 | and the cherished father of Zachary and Alexandra; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Mr. Pereira was a devoted family man who worked as a skilled process |
6 | monitor with the Narragansett Bay Commission, and was the President of RI Council #94, Local |
7 | 1010. He was also a member of the Brightridge Club, the East Providence Sons of Italy, and the |
8 | Riverside Gun Club; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Mr. Pereira also was a member of the Jarheads MC, a motorcycle club |
10 | comprised of Honorably Discharged United States Marine Corps veterans and close friends who |
11 | participate in numerous charitable motorcycle rides and other activities in support of veterans' |
12 | causes; and |
13 | WHEREAS, On the tragic day of Friday, June 21, Daniel Pereira and many of his closest |
14 | friends across New England were travelling by motorcycle in New Hampshire when suddenly a |
15 | pickup truck towing a flatbed trailer veered and collided with their group of ten motorcycles on a |
16 | two-lane highway in the Town of Randolph. Five men, including Mr. Pereira, and two women |
17 | perished in the accident. It is considered to be one of the worst in the history of New Hampshire; |
18 | and |
19 | WHEREAS, In addition to his wife and children, Mr. Pereira also leaves behind his |

1 | sister, Deborah Vincent and her companion, Abel Pedroso, his brother, David Pereira and his |
2 | wife, Isaura, and many beloved nieces and nephews; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Whether it was bringing home-cooked meals to paraplegic veterans or |
4 | taking part in numerous other charitable events, serving our nation in the United States Marines, |
5 | or taking care of his wife and children, Daniel Pereira was truly a man who put the well-being |
6 | and interest of others ahead of himself. May we never forget his service to our nation, his family |
7 | and the wider community; now, therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
9 | hereby expresses its deepest condolences to the Pereira Family on the passing of Mr. Daniel |
10 | Pereira; and be it further |
11 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
12 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Helen Pereira and Family. |
