EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF DOROTHY M. | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sincere sadness that this House has learned of the passing of |
2 | Dorothy M. Ruggerio, the loving wife of the late Mario "Charlie" Ruggerio, mother of our friend |
3 | and esteemed colleague, Senate President Dominick J. Ruggerio, Lisa Aceto and her husband, |
4 | James, and the late Charles "Chucky" Ruggerio, and the cherished grandmother of Charles |
5 | Ruggerio, Christine DeSimone, Amanda Fallon, Justine Melo and Anthony Aceto, and five great- |
6 | grandchildren; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Prush was born in Jamaica (Queens), New York, a daughter of the |
8 | late Joseph and Mary Prush, and the sister of Joan Negris, and the late William, Joseph, Edward, |
9 | Raymond, Stephen and John Prush, Eleanor O'Reilly, and Agnes Kerr; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Ruggerio lived her life with energy, style and grace. She spent much of |
11 | her younger life traveling as a dancer in order to help support her family. She was a member of |
12 | the Rockettes, and she performed with such notable entertainers as Jackie Gleason, Sammy |
13 | Davis, Jr., and Dean Martin. She grew into a dynamic lady who possessed a formidable and |
14 | independent spirit; and |
15 | WHEREAS, Throughout her lifetime, Mrs. Ruggerio enjoyed an active social life, |
16 | including bowling, tennis, card playing, and golfing with her many friends at Kirkbrae and |
17 | Louisquisset Country Clubs; and |
18 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Ruggerio was a gifted and talented seamstress and an excellent cook |
19 | who often shared her culinary virtuosity with her family and friends, and occasionally with the |

1 | kitchen staff at her family's restaurant, The Chalet; and |
2 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Ruggerio spent her later years at Elmhurst Rehabilitation and Nursing |
3 | Center where she was beloved by both her fellow residents and the Center's caring staff; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Ruggerio will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted |
5 | mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will evermore reside in the hearts and sweet |
6 | memories of all who knew and loved her; now, therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
8 | Providence Plantations hereby extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and friends of |
9 | Dorothy M. Ruggerio; and be it further |
10 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
11 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Honorable Dominick J. Ruggerio, Senate |
12 | President, and Lisa Aceto. |
