EXPRESSING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF SHIRLEY A. FORTE | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Shirley |
2 | A. Forte, beloved wife of the late S. Henry Forte for sixty-five years, the devoted mother of the |
3 | Honorable Michael Forte and his wife, Rebecca, Suzanne Doucette and her husband, Roland, and |
4 | Pamela Godfrey and her husband, Steven; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Born in Warwick, Mrs. Forte was the daughter of the late James and Susan |
6 | O'Brien, and the sister of the late Burnside Mitchell, Robert O'Brien, Elmer O'Brien, James |
7 | O'Brien, Ida Heroux, Honora Neary, Virginia Mielke, and Barbara Kuhn. She was a graduate of |
8 | Pawtucket West High School and had attended Rhode Island Junior College; and |
9 | WHEREAS, With a loving personality, Mrs. Forte created and nurtured a marriage that |
10 | flourished and a home that was warm and welcoming. She doted on her family, particularly her |
11 | grandchildren. She was the loving "Gramma" of Brian Doucette and his wife, Rebecca, Gregory |
12 | Doucette and his wife, Dana, Megan Andrews and her husband, Jacob, Kaitlyn Godfrey, Michael |
13 | Forte, Jr., and his wife, Tricia, William Forte, Christopher Forte, and Cameron Forte, and the |
14 | "Gramma-the-Great" of Alexander and Connor Doucette, Henry, Benjamin, and Elise Doucette, |
15 | and Michael Forte, III, who were the lights of her life. She was also the aunt of Shirley Winslow, |
16 | and several additional nieces and nephews; and |
17 | WHEREAS, In addition to making a wonderful home for her family, Mrs. Forte was |
18 | employed by the Cranston School Department at Horton School as a Teacher's Aide for more |
19 | than twenty years; and |
20 | WHEREAS, A woman of strong faith and commitment, Mrs. Forte was a devoted |

1 | parishioner of Phillips Memorial Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a |
2 | member of the Hope Circle. She had also served as a Girl Scout Leader for several years, was an |
3 | avid golfer and bowler, a member of the SeaGals Golf League at Woodland Greens Golf Course, |
4 | and of a bowling league at Mac's Bowl; and |
5 | WHEREAS, There is no doubt that Shirley A. Forte, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, |
6 | great-grandmother, and friend to many, left an indelible mark on the lives of those she knew and |
7 | loved, and she will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
9 | Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies to the Forte Family on the |
10 | passing of Shirley A. Forte; and be it further |
11 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
12 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Honorable Michael Forte and Family, |
13 | Suzanne Doucette and Family, and Pamela Godfrey and Family. |
