1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Patricia |
2 | A. Fogarty, the beloved wife of the late George "Bing" Fogarty, Jr., and the cherished mother of |
3 | Sheila Reilly, G. Philip Fogarty, III and his wife, Jennifer, Regina Toomey and her husband, |
4 | Christopher, Brendan Fogarty, Sr., and his wife, Kathleen, Colin Fogarty, Sr., and his wife, |
5 | Elizabeth, Stacia Fogarty, and Jeremiah Fogarty and his wife, Cathy; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Born in Providence, Mrs. Fogarty was raised in the Fox Point neighborhood |
7 | in the shadow of St. Joseph Church. She was born into the large and loving family of the late |
8 | William and Gertrude Hanrahan, and the sister of the late William Hanrahan, David Hanrahan, |
9 | Edward Hanrahan, Mary Cunningham, Gerald Hanrahan, Rev. Joseph Hanrahan, SSC, John |
10 | Hanrahan, and Angela Gladys Chatwin. She was the last of the nine Hanrahan siblings; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Fogarty graduated from Cleary School and St. Xavier Academy. In |
12 | addition to raising her family, she had worked numerous jobs throughout her life, including at |
13 | Grinnell Corporation, Cherry & Webb, and Carty Realty, where she had worked with her sister |
14 | Gladys and her life-long friend, Marguerite Carty; and |
15 | WHEREAS, With a warm and wonderful personality, Mrs. Fogarty created and nurtured |
16 | a marriage that flourished, and a home that was warm and welcoming. She doted on her family, |
17 | and was particularly proud to be "Nana" to her thirteen beloved grandchildren, Patrick, Brenna, |
18 | Bridget, Molly, David, Colin Jr., Ryan, Brendan Jr., Lauren, George IV, Jackson, Declan, and |
19 | Niamh, and her two great-grandchildren, Casey and Charlotte, who were the light of her life. She |
20 | also leaves many loving nieces and nephews; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Fogarty enjoyed summering at Bonnet Shores Beach Club, and was |
2 | active in her community, serving as a past President of the Parents Association of St. Xavier; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Patricia Fogarty was blessed with a beautiful family and a long life. She |
4 | had lived during eleven different decades and had experienced the '20s twice. There is no doubt |
5 | that she left an indelible mark on the lives of those she knew and loved, and she will be dearly |
6 | missed; now, therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
8 | Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Patricia A. |
9 | Fogarty; and be it further |
10 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
11 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Sheila Reilly, G. Philip Fogarty, III, Regina |
12 | Toomey, Brendan Fogarty, Sr., Colin Fogarty, Sr., Stacia Fogarty, and Jeremiah Fogarty. |
