A N   A C T

RELATING TO MOTOR AND OTHER VEHICLES -- MISCELLANEOUS RULES

     Introduced By: Representatives Williams, Almeida, Caldwell, Alzate, and Knight

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 31-22 of the General Laws entitled "Miscellaneous Rules" is

hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     31-22-9.1. Throwing debris on highway -- Trash removal.

     No person employed by a city or town, including private contractors, removing trash

from any dwelling within the city or town limits shall leave the trash receptacles in any condition

or place so as to constitute a hazard on any street or highway as defined in § 31-1-23, except a

private road or driveway.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would prohibit any city or town employee, including private contractors,

removing trash from leaving trash receptacles in any condition or place so as to constitute a

hazard on the street or highways, except private roads or driveways.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
