	RELATING TO PUBLIC PROPERTY AND WORKS -- STATE PURCHASES

	It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
1	SECTION 1. Chapter 37-2 of the General Laws entitled "State Purchases" is hereby
2	amended by adding thereto the following section:
3	37-2-17.3. Purchasing authority of volunteer firefighters.
4	Any volunteer firefighter in the state shall be eligible to utilize the provisions of chapter 2
5	of title 37 for the purpose of purchasing any motor vehicle, as defined in § 31-1-3.
6	SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

	BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

1	This act would provide that volunteer firefighters in the state be eligible to utilize the
2	provisions of the state purchasing act, for the purpose of purchasing any motor vehicle.
3	This act would take effect upon passage.
