EXTENDING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF EDWARD ZACKARIAN JR. | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Edward |
2 | Zackarian, Jr., the loving husband of Susan Zackarian, beloved father of David Stockford, and |
3 | Peter Hart, and the proud grandfather of Madison, Adam, Brandon, Janie and Lilly; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Born in Providence, Mr. Zackarian was a son of Dorothy Zackarian and the |
5 | late Edward “Eddie Zack” Zackarian, and the brother of Dorothy “Dottie Zack” Savory, and the |
6 | late Peter Zackarian and Elizabeth Marland. He was affectionately known as “Eddie Zack Jr.” by |
7 | his family and many friends; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Mr. Zackarian served our country with honor in the United States Navy for |
9 | six years, both in active duty and reserve during the Vietnam War. Previous to his enlistment, he |
10 | had worked as a skilled iron worker; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Upon discharge from the Navy, Mr. Zackarian drove a tour bus, fondly |
12 | named “Amanda”, for numerous music legends in Nashville, including the late Country music |
13 | legend Don Williams, the late Dan Seals, and the late Merle Haggard, to name just a few; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Mr. Zackarian later worked as a technician for the Prevost Bus Company in |
15 | Hendersonville, Tennessee, before returning to Rhode Island in 2013; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Always the consummate music lover, Mr. Zackarian took on the challenge |
17 | of reintroducing Country music back into the state. In his late sixties, he formed a super star band |
18 | made up of many well-known Rhode Island musicians, and for several years, performed many |
19 | shows at the Mishnock Barn; and |
20 | WHEREAS, Eddie Zack, Jr., will forever be remembered for his passion for music and |

1 | life, and for the love he bestowed on his family and friends. He will be dearly missed; now, |
2 | therefore be it |
3 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
4 | Providence Plantations hereby extends deepest condolences on the passing of Edward Zackarian, |
5 | Jr.; and be it further |
6 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
7 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Susan Zackarian and Family. |
