	RELATING TO BUSINESSES AND PROFESSIONS - BOARD OF MEDICAL LICENSURE
	AND DISCIPLINE

	It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
1	SECTION 1. Chapter 5-37 of the General Laws entitled "Board of Medical Licensure and
2	Discipline" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:
3	5-37-2.2. Reciprocal licensure.
4	(a) The board shall license an applicant to practice medicine if the applicant:
5	(1) Became licensed or certified as a physician in another jurisdiction under requirements
6	that the board determines are substantially equivalent to the licensing requirements of this chapter;
7	(2) Is in good standing under the laws of the other jurisdiction;
8	(3) Submits an application, on a form prescribed by the board, presenting the facts which
9	entitle the applicant to practice under this chapter; and
10	(4) Pays a nonrefundable application fee in a total amount as set forth in § 23-1-54.
11	(b) The board shall adopt, amend, and rescind rules and regulations, with the approval of
12	the director, necessary to carry out the provisions of this section.
13	SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

	AND DISCIPLINE

1	This act would require the Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline to provide for
2	reciprocal licensure of physicians from other jurisdictions under certain conditions, and in
3	connection therewith, requires the board to promulgate applicable rules and regulations.
4	This act would take effect upon passage.
