RELATING TO LABOR AND LABOR RELATIONS - MINIMUM WAGES | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 28-12 of the General Laws entitled "Minimum Wages" is hereby |
2 | amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 28-12-3.3. Minimum wages for employees of developmental disabilities organizations. |
4 | (a) Commencing October 1, 2020, every covered employer providing services to five (5) |
5 | or more persons with developmental disabilities, that are reimbursed for such services by the state, |
6 | shall pay to their employees, no less than fifteen dollars ($15.00) per hour. For the purposes of this |
7 | section, covered employers are those developmental disability organizations licensed to provide |
8 | services pursuant to ยง 40.1-24-3. |
9 | (b) The state general revenues and federal funds appropriation(s) to the department of |
10 | behavioral healthcare, developmental disabilities, and hospitals (BHDDH) for services for the |
11 | developmentally disabled shall increase to programs that provide services to adults with |
12 | developmental disabilities in order to fund the minimum wage increase provided for in this section. |
13 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
