EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE LOUIS A. | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this House has learned of the passing of The |
2 | Honorable Louis A. Perrotta, Sr., former Mayor of the Town of Johnston, on February 29, 2020. |
3 | He was the devoted husband of Maria Perrotta for fifty-seven years; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Mr. Perrotta was born in Providence, a son of the late Louis and Gina |
5 | Perrotta. He was a 1955 graduate of LaSalle Academy, and later graduated from Bryant College. |
6 | He served our nation with honor and distinction as a member of the United States Air Force |
7 | Reserves; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Mr. Perrotta was a successful businessman and longtime owner of Louis |
9 | Press Printers. He was a fixture within the business community who was admired for the high |
10 | quality of the products he produced and for his generosity in doing free work for numerous |
11 | charitable organizations; and |
12 | WHEREAS, A distinguished public servant, Mr. Perrotta served on the Johnston Town |
13 | Council from 1987 to 1995, and was subsequently elected Mayor of Johnston in 1994. He was re- |
14 | elected in 1996, and served as Mayor for four years, from 1995 to 1999. In his twelve years of |
15 | public service, he served the citizens of Johnston with integrity and tireless devotion; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Mr. Perrotta was very active with numerous civic organizations. He was a |
17 | member and past President of the Johnston Lions Club for 53 years, and a member of the |
18 | Narragansett Lions Club, the Rally Point Tennis Club, and the Italo-American Club. He had also |
19 | been a lector at Our Lady of Grace Church; and |

1 | WHEREAS, In his free time, Mr. Perrotta enjoyed reading, playing golf and tennis, and |
2 | was an avid amateur photographer who took great joy in taking photographs of his children, |
3 | grandchildren, and the many interesting places he and his wife visited in their travels; and |
4 | WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Maria, Mr. Perrotta leaves behind his children, |
5 | Steven Perrotta, Louis Perrotta, Jr., and his wife, Else, Thomas Perrotta and his wife, Dawn, |
6 | Robert Perrotta and his wife, Sandra, and Richard Perrotta and his wife, Deborah. He also leaves |
7 | his grandchildren, Christopher, Danielle, Sarah, Sophia, Olivia, Matthew, Anthony, Cassondra, |
8 | Bobby and Isabella, and his brother, Albert Perrotta and his wife, Elaine; now, therefore be it |
9 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
10 | Providence Plantations hereby expresses its condolences to the Perrotta Family on the passing of |
11 | the Honorable Louis A. Perrotta, Sr.; and be it further |
12 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
13 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Maria Perrotta and family. |
