CONGRATULATING THE NORTH KINGSTOWN/WICKFORD LITTLE LEAGUE 11 | |
YEAR-OLD DISTRICT ALL STAR TEAM ON WINNING THE 2019 RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, The North Kingstown/Wickford Little League 11 Year-Old District All Star |
2 | team are a group of talented youngsters who worked hard and exhibited fierce determination and |
3 | perseverance to overcome an initial setback to win the State Championship; and |
4 | WHEREAS, After losing the opening game to Warwick Continental and being sent to the |
5 | Loser’s Bracket, one loss from elimination, the North Kingstown/Wickford Team showed their |
6 | determination and exhibited clutch play under pressure to go on an exhilarating eight game |
7 | winning streak; and |
8 | WHEREAS, North Kingstown/Wickford quickly righted the ship and proceeded to |
9 | advance to the District 3 Championship after they defeated Narragansett in a hard-fought 4-3 |
10 | victory, and then easily dispatched Coventry in a 7-0 shutout. In a rematch with Warwick |
11 | Continental, North Kingstown/Wickford arguably played their best baseball with their sterling |
12 | pitching, excellent defense, and solid hitting leading to a 7-3 decisive victory and a winner-take- |
13 | all District 3 Championship game, which they won in a tight game by the score of 4-3 to advance |
14 | to the State Tournament; and |
15 | WHEREAS, At the State Tournament, North Kingstown/Wickford emerged victorious |
16 | thanks to outstanding pitching and timely hitting as they defeated Barrington by the score of 3-2, |
17 | Cranston Western 6-1, and Smithfield in a thrilling title game by the score of 3-2. In the finale, |
18 | North Kingstown/Wickford were clinging to a narrow 2-1 lead in the last inning when Smithfield |
19 | threatened with a man on third and two outs before they got a key strikeout to clinch the State |

2 | WHEREAS, Winning a State Championship requires that every member of the team |
3 | work their hardest, be good teammates, and always put team goals ahead of personal aspirations. |
4 | The 2019 North Kingstown/Wickford Little League 11 Year-Old District All-Star Team had |
5 | those qualities in abundance; now, therefore be it |
6 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
7 | Providence Plantations hereby congratulates the 2019 North Kingstown/ Wickford Little League |
8 | 11 Year-Old District All-Star Team on winning the 2019 Rhode Island State Championship, and |
9 | be it further |
10 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
11 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Dino Ciarniello. |
