HONORING REPRESENTATIVE STEPHEN R. UCCI FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE | |
OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, The Honorable Stephen R. Ucci has served with honor and distinction in the |
2 | Rhode Island House of Representatives for the past sixteen years, as the Representative for |
3 | District 42, representing citizens in the Johnston and Cranston communities; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Laying the perfect foundation to take on future challenges in the legal |
5 | profession and the legislature, Representative Ucci graduated from La Salle Academy, received |
6 | his Bachelor of Science degree from Providence College, and his Juris Doctor from the New |
7 | England School of Law. He is currently employed as General Counsel at Hypertherm, Inc.; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Winning his first foray into politics, Representative Ucci was elected to the |
9 | Rhode Island General Assembly on November 2, 2004. Held in the highest esteem by his |
10 | colleagues, he was named Senior Deputy Majority Leader, and has served as First Vice Chair of |
11 | the House Committee on Rules, as a member of the House Committee on Labor, and is the Co- |
12 | Chair of the Special Legislative Commission on Defense Economy Planning; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Representative Ucci has been instrumental in enacting numerous pieces of |
14 | legislation including acts resulting in new laws licensing pet trainers, allowing the use of third- |
15 | party building inspectors to eliminate costly construction delays, and allowing the Rhode Island |
16 | Infrastructure Bank to fund projects related to resiliency. In addition, he sponsored legislation to |
17 | pave the way for Rhode Island to become an early adopter of 5th generation mobile networks |
18 | (5G), to name just of few of his many accomplishments; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Representative Ucci's civic and community involvement includes serving as |

1 | a member of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Drone Advisory Committee, the National |
2 | Conference of State Legislatures’ Cybersecurity Task Force, and Co-Chair of the Special |
3 | Commission on Reapportionment in 2012; and |
4 | WHEREAS, The Honorable Stephen Ucci has brought wisdom, legal erudition, and a |
5 | tremendous work ethic to the General Assembly during his years in office. His service to the |
6 | citizens of Johnston, Cranston, and the State, has ultimately made Rhode Island a far better place |
7 | to live and flourish; now, therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
9 | honors and thanks Representative Stephen R. Ucci for sixteen years of dedicated service |
10 | enriching the quality of life for all the citizens of Rhode Island. We wish him and his lovely wife, |
11 | Dina, and his daughter, Gianna the very best health, happiness, and success in all his future |
12 | endeavors; and be it further |
13 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
14 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Stephen R. Ucci. |
