S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF MARY ELIZABETH HOPKINS

     WHEREAS, Mary Elizabeth Hopkins, a devoted wife and mother, passed away on

December 10, 2019, after a courageous battle against cancer. She was the daughter of the late

Everett and Concetta Gramolini; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Hopkins was an esteemed educator who taught with tireless devotion

for more than twenty years at Hugh B. Bain Middle School. She was a nurturing, loving and

gentle person who always brightened the lives of the people in her life, from the members of her

family to the students she taught, to her many friends. She was also a strong woman of faith who

served the Lord and the Church every day of life; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Hopkins leaves behind her husband of forty-one years, the Honorable

Kenneth J. Hopkins, Sr., Cranston City Councilman. She also leaves behind her children, Ken

Hopkins, Jr., and his wife, Cristina, Lauren and her husband, Cody, and Katelyn and her husband,

Jacob, and her grandchildren, Lilly, JJ, Kenny III, and Chloe; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Hopkins' passing is an immeasurable loss for her family and friends,

but the memory of living a life of faith and service to others will live on forever in the hearts of

all who knew and loved her; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Mary Elizabeth Hopkins; and be it

further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Kenneth J. Hopkins, Sr.
