	RELATING TO TOWNS AND CITIES -- GENERAL POWERS -- PRUDENCE ISLAND
	SCHOOL FOUNDATION

	It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
1	SECTION 1. Chapter 45-2 of the General Laws entitled "General Powers" is hereby
2	amended by adding thereto the following section:
3	45-2-5.2. Prudence Island school foundation.
4	Notwithstanding any provision of the general laws to the contrary, including, but not
5	limited to, the provisions of § 45-2-6, the town council of the town of Portsmouth is hereby
6	authorized and permitted to exercise its discretion to give, grant, bargain, sell, transfer and/or
7	convey to the Prudence Island School Foundation, all of its right, title and interest in and to those
8	certain lots or parcels of land, including and together with all buildings and improvements located
9	thereon, situated on Prudence Island in the town of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, within the plat
10	entitled "Plat of Prudence Park" and numbered as Lots 824, 825, 826 and 827 as recorded in the
11	office of the Portsmouth Land Evidence Records in Plan Book 1 on pages 2 and 3 and on pages 6
12	and 7 (the "property") to the Prudence Island School Foundation, a Rhode Island nonprofit
13	corporation, subject to those rights of reversion set forth in the deed recorded on July 2, 1896, in
14	Book 20 on Page 403 and the deed recorded on November 26, 1997, in Book 516 on Page 114 of
15	the Portsmouth Land Evidence Records, if the property shall cease to be used for educational
16	purposes.

1	SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

1	This act would enable the town council of Portsmouth to transfer and/or convey parcels
2	of land owned by the town on Prudence Island to the Prudence Island School Foundation to be
3	used for educational purposes.
4	This act would take effect upon passage.
