S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING PROFOUND SYMPATHY ON THE PASSING OF CLAIRE A. BIRKMAIER

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Claire

A. Birkmaier, the beloved wife of forty-three years to George Birkmaier, and a longtime resident

of the Town of North Scituate; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Birkmaier was born in the City of Providence, and was the devoted

daughter of the late Frank, Jr., and Eugenia DiPaolo, and the sister of Evelyn Doherty, and the

late Richard DiPaolo and Thomas DiPaolo. She was also the aunt to many nieces and nephews;

and

     WHEREAS, A renowned beauty, Mrs. Birkmaier had been a former Miss Rhode Island.

For thirty-two years, she had been employed as an administrative aid for Senator Claiborne Pell,

and as a secretary for Senator Paul Fogarty for fifteen years; and

     WHEREAS, In addition to her family and work, Mrs. Birkmaier had enjoyed and had an

overwhelming love for horses, dogs and cats, and spending quality time on her boat;

and                               

     WHEREAS, There is no doubt that Claire Birkmaier, a gracious and lovely woman, left

an indelible mark on the lives of those she knew and loved, and she will be dearly missed; now,

therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby expresses its deepest sympathies on the passing of Claire A. Birkmaier; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to George Birkmaier.
