S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING DALE HOLBERTON, SOUTH KINGSTOWN TOWN CLERK, ON

HER RETIREMENT AFTER MORE THAN THIRTY YEARS OF EXEMPLARY PUBLIC

SERVICE

     WHEREAS, Dale Holberton is retiring from the position of Town Clerk of South

2

Kingstown after more than thirty years of devoted and distinguished service to the citizens of

3

South Kingstown. Ms. Holberton was born and raised in South Kingstown where her family has

4

resided for generations and is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is

5

married to Karl Wahlberg and together they have two sons, Karl, Jr., and Thaddeus; and

6

     WHEREAS, Ms. Holberton became the South Kingstown Town Clerk on February 10,

7

1987, and through the years has made significant and positive contributions to the Town. She

8

played a key role in bringing new technology into the Clerk’s Office and managed to implement

9

necessary renovations to the office while also maintaining and preserving its important historical

10

aspects; and

11

     WHEREAS, Ms. Holberton also served as the liaison for the Saugatucket Park Veterans

12

Commission and certified the names of those being inscribed on the Saugatucket Veterans

13

Memorial and the names that have been added as a result of the most recent conflicts involving

14

United States military forces. She also played an instrumental role in the renovation of the War

15

Monument located at Hazard School; and

16

     WHEREAS, Ms. Holberton served as the Treasurer of the Rhode Island Town and City

17

Clerks Association from 1992 to 1993, as its Vice President in 1995 and 1996, and as President in

18

1997 and 1998. She was an active member of the New England Association of Town and City

19

Clerks where she held the position of Secretary, and served on the Budget Committee and

Executive Board. She was also a member of the Rhode Island Town and City Clerks Association

2

(RITCCA); now, therefore be it

3

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

4

hereby congratulates Dale Holberton on her retirement from the Town of South Kingstown after

5

more than thirty years of devoted and exemplary service as Town Clerk. We wish her good

6

health, happiness, and continued success in all her future endeavors; and be it further

7

     RESOLVED. That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

8

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Dale Holberton.
