EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF A. VINCENT IGLIOZZI | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of A. |
2 | Vincent Igliozzi, the beloved husband of forty years to the late Dolores Ann, and the cherished |
3 | father of three children, Angelica Igliozzi and her husband, Robert Colantuono, the Honorable |
4 | David Igliozzi, Esq. and his wife, Mariesa, and the Honorable John Igliozzi, Esq. and his |
5 | companion, Elisa Serpa. He was also the very proud grandfather of Bianca Luisa Iannitti and her |
6 | partner, Justin Andrade, David Thomas, Gian Vincent, Alexander Vincent and Nico Andrew |
7 | Igliozzi, and the devoted companion of June Granata for twenty-one years; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Mr. Igliozzi was affectionately known as "Vinnie" or "Sonny" by his family |
9 | and many friends. He was the son of the late Angelo and Luisa Igliozzi, brother of the late Mary |
10 | Zompa and Yolanda Pullano, father-in-law to the late Charles V. Iannitti, and the uncle of many |
11 | nieces, nephews, and one great-great nephew. He grew up and was a life-long resident of |
12 | Providence’s Silver Lake neighborhood and was a graduate of LaSalle Academy; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Mr. Igliozzi served his country with distinction during the Korean War. |
14 | Upon discharge, he attended Bryant College to study business. Throughout his distinguished |
15 | career, Mr. Igliozzi held myriad eminent titles including, being named Director of Administration |
16 | for the State of Rhode Island State Equal Opportunity Office and Federal Programs Coordinator, |
17 | Assistant Director of Administration for the State of Rhode Island, and the Deputy Clerk to the |
18 | Rhode Island House of Representatives; and |
19 | WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Igliozzi held numerous professional positions including, |
20 | serving as President of the International Personnel Management Association, executive board |

1 | member of the National Institute of Employment Security, and a member of the Rhode Island |
2 | Manpower Service Council and the Commission of Comparable Worth; and |
3 | WHEREAS, An active and contributing member of his community, Mr. Igliozzi was one |
4 | of the founders of the Silver Lake Community Center, where he had served as the Chairman of |
5 | the Board of Directors since its establishment, Chairman of the Diocese of Providence Catholic |
6 | School Board, and the Training thru Placement Program for the developmentally disabled, Silver |
7 | Lake Lions Club, Grand Lodge Columbus Day Observance Committee, and a lifelong |
8 | parishioner, Lector, and a member of the St. Bartholomew Church fund-raising committee. He |
9 | was also the past president of the St. Bartholomew’s Parish School Board, Silver Lake Lions |
10 | Club and the Loggia Piave Sons of Italy, and a member of the Hope Council Knights of |
11 | Columbus, the Rosario Society, the Rhode Island Jimmy Fund, Saint Bartholomew’s Society, the |
12 | Italo-American Club, and the Holy Name Society, as well as the secretary of the Providence |
13 | Civic Center Authority, Chairperson of the 7th Ward Democratic Committee, Secretary to the |
14 | Providence Democratic City Committee, and a member of the Silver Lake/Hartford Revitalization |
15 | Committee; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Mr. Igliozzi was honored and recognized for many accomplishments |
17 | including being awarded the Loggia Piave Merit Award in 1993. He had helped to revitalize the |
18 | Piave Lodge which had been inactive for years and was elected President, and subsequently |
19 | elected to the post of Trustee of the Rhode Island Grand Lodge; and |
20 | WHEREAS, Mr. Igliozzi left this world a far better place because of his life’s endeavors. |
21 | He enriched the lives of all who knew him and he will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it |
22 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
23 | hereby expresses deepest sympathies to the entire Igliozzi Family on the passing of A. Vincent |
24 | Igliozzi; and be it further |
25 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
26 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Angelica Igliozzi, the Honorable David |
27 | Igliozzi, Esq., and the Honorable John Igliozzi, Esq. |
