HONORING JOSEPH FRANK WOJTANOWSKI, JR. | |

1 | WHEREAS, Joseph Frank Wojtanowski, Jr., was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, on |
2 | October 13, 1941, the son of Joseph and Lucille Wojtanowski; and |
3 | WHEREAS, At the young age of seventeen, Mr. Wojtanowski joined the Navy. While |
4 | docked in Rhode Island, he met and fell in love with his wife, Frances, and was married a few |
5 | years later; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Upon discharge from the Navy, Mr. Wojtanowski and his wife made the |
7 | City of Providence their permanent home, raising six children in their large and loving family; |
8 | and |
9 | WHEREAS, As Mrs. Wojtanowski stayed home with the children, Mr. Wojtanowski |
10 | attended college in the evenings, earning his degree in Business Management, and worked for |
11 | many years as a welder, blacksmith and machinist; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Mr. Wojtanowski was employed at Tower Iron Works for seventeen years, |
13 | the last seven of which he maintained perfect attendance. After the company closed its doors, he |
14 | worked at Corner and Ladder, where he once again attained perfect attendance for ten years until |
15 | that shop closed its doors; and |
16 | WHEREAS, In 1988, Mr. Wojtanowski began working as a Correctional Officer at the |
17 | State of RI Adult Correctional Institutions, where he was honored with a plaque for achieving |
18 | perfect attendance during his first ten years. After a period of time off, he returned to the ACI, |
19 | where he reached perfect attendance for another ten years and six months; and |
20 | WHEREAS, In addition to supporting and helping to raise his family, Mr. Wojtanowski |

1 | volunteered with the Elmwood Little League from 1980 through 1987, and after a few years off, |
2 | returned to the league, where he served as President and currently continues to help out; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Joe Wojtanowski endured heartache with the loss of his beloved wife and |
4 | son to cancer, but he has also been blessed with the devotion and love of twelve grandchildren |
5 | and five great-grandchildren; now, therefore be it |
6 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
7 | hereby honors Joseph Frank Wojtanowski, Jr., for a life well-lived and many wonderful |
8 | achievements. We wish him continued good health, happiness, and fulfillment for many years to |
9 | come; and be it further |
10 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
11 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Joseph Frank Wojtanowski, Jr. |
