RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNMENT -- PRIVATIZATION OF STATE | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Section 42-148-8 of the General Laws in Chapter 42-148 entitled |
2 | "Privatization of State Services" is hereby amended to read as follows: |
3 | 42-148-8. Applicability. |
4 | (a) The process set forth in this chapter shall apply to privatization contracts as defined in |
5 | subsection 42-148-2(g). |
6 | (b) Notwithstanding any general law or special law to the contrary, no award shall be |
7 | made or privatization contract entered into by the state of Rhode Island unless and until the |
8 | processes and procedures outlined in §§ 42-148-3, 42-148-4 and 42-148-5 have been fully |
9 | complied with in their entirety. All of the aforementioned sections shall apply to all pending |
10 | awards and pending privatization contracts. |
11 | (c) Notwithstanding any general law or special law to the contrary, no award shall be |
12 | made or privatization contract entered into by any municipality in the state of Rhode Island unless |
13 | and until the processes and procedures outlined in §§ 42-148-3, 42-148-4 and 42-148-5 have been |
14 | fully complied with in their entirety. All of the aforementioned sections shall apply to all pending |
15 | awards and pending privatization contracts. |
16 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
