EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF RAYMOND J. SPOONER | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with profound sadness and regret that this Senate has learned of the |
2 | passing of Raymond J. Spooner, beloved father of Ryan Spooner and Megan Spooner, and the |
3 | former husband of Lee Ann Spooner; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Fondly known as "Boomer" or "Ray" to his family and many friends, Ray |
5 | was the son of the late Raymond, Sr., and Sonia Spooner, and the cherished brother of Kevin |
6 | Spooner and his wife, Johanne, Dianna Liss and her husband, Andrew, Darleen Blais, and the late |
7 | Debra Spooner. He is also survived by his three nephews, Adam, Raymond and David; and |
8 | WHEREAS, A conscientious and hard-working man, Ray earned his Associate's degree |
9 | in Business from Fisher College and had been the Operations Manager for Northstar Metals in |
10 | Pawtucket for fourteen years; and |
11 | WHEREAS, A lifelong resident and ardent supporter of the City of Pawtucket and public |
12 | education, Ray was elected to serve on the Pawtucket School Committee, and having earned the |
13 | admiration of his fellow committeepersons, was named Chairperson for five years; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Always willing to lend his time and support, Ray had been a volunteer for |
15 | numerous political campaigns, and had been selected to serve as a member of the Pawtucket |
16 | Charter Review Commission, where he was named Chair by the commission's membership; and |
17 | WHEREAS, Ray was an avid New England sports fan who enjoyed playing golf and |
18 | listening to his music collections, oftentimes from his recliner; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Our thoughts and hearts hold great empathy and sorrow for the family of |
20 | Raymond Spooner. He was a loving father, a devoted brother, and a loyal friend. He enriched the |

1 | City of Pawtucket with his service and left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew him. |
2 | He will be dearly missed in the community; now, therefore be it |
3 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
4 | hereby expresses its deepest sympathies on the passing of Raymond Spooner. He will forever be |
5 | remembered by this Senate and the people of Rhode Island for his commitment to the people of |
6 | Pawtucket; and be it further |
7 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
8 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Ryan Spooner and Megan Spooner. |
