	S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N
	EXTENDING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF EUGENIO DUARTE

1	WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of
2	Eugenio Duarte, the beloved husband of Julia Duarte for forty-four years, and the cherished father
3	of two daughters, our friend and colleague, Dulcineia De Oliveira and her husband, Assis, and
4	Melissa Duarte; and
5	WHEREAS, A longtime resident of the City of East Providence, Mr. Duarte had been
6	born in Brava, Cape Verde. He was the son of the late Candida Ferreira Duarte, and the brother of
7	Maria Teresa Perret, and Alberto Gomes; and
8	WHEREAS, A hardworking man, Mr. Duarte had been employed at Speidel, Inc., for
9	twenty-seven years before his retirement; and
10	WHEREAS, A quiet and humble man, Mr. Duarte was devoted to his family and
11	particularly proud of his two grandchildren, our friend and colleague, Shanna De Oliveira and
12	Brian De Oliveira, and his beautiful great-granddaughter, Layla De Oliveira; and
13	WHEREAS, In addition to his family, Mr. Duarte enjoyed fishing and was highly
14	admired and actively involved in the Cape Verde community and within the neighborhood; and
15	WHEREAS, Eugenio Duarte was a gentle man, who took pride in protecting and taking
16	care of his family and those he loved. He will be truly missed by all who had the good fortune to
17	have shared his life; now, therefore be it
18	RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations
19	hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Eugenio Duarte; and be it further
20	RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

1	transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Dulcineia De Oliveira and Family, and Melissa
2	Duarte.
