S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE

THOMAS L. UCCI

     WHEREAS, Thomas L. “Tom” Ucci passed away on November 11, 2019, surrounded by

his beloved family. He was the devoted husband of Constance “Connie” Ucci for more than sixty-

three years; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Ucci was born in Providence, a son of Luigi and Frances Ucci. He was

a lifelong resident of Johnston and graduated from LaSalle Academy in 1953; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Ucci was a hard-working and devoted family man his entire life. He

was a driver for the former Almacs Grocery Store, a Shop Steward for Teamsters Local 251, and

served as the Director of Buildings and Grounds for the Town of Johnston; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Ucci was also a dedicated public servant. He served with honor,

integrity and distinction as a member of the Johnston Town Council, including serving as the

Town Council President. He also served as the Town Sergeant and was a lifetime member of

Johnston Hose Company Number 3; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Ucci was a lifetime communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church in

Johnston and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Dillon Council. More than anything,

Mr. Ucci enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren;

and

     WHEREAS, In addition to his wife Constance, Mr. Ucci is survived by his children,

Thomas Ucci, Jr., Assistant Chief, Johnston Fire Department, and his wife Patricia, Pamela

DelPonte and her husband, Peter, the Honorable Susan Mansolillo, Johnston School Committee,

and her husband, Louis, and the Honorable Stephen Ucci and his wife, Dina. He also leaves

behind his grandchildren, David Laferiere, Sherry Farrell and her husband, Zack, Christine

Paulson and her husband, Eric, Amanda Merluzzo and her husband, Michael, Alisa Cimini and

her husband, Matt, Jeni Mansolillo, and Gianna Ucci, and leaves seven great-grandchildren; now,

therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of the Honorable Thomas L. Ucci; and

be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Constance Ucci and Family.
