THANKING SENATOR MARK P. MCKENNEY FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE IN

THE RHODE ISLAND SENATE

     WHEREAS, Senator Mark P. McKenney was born in 1956. He is married to Tricia

McKenney and has three children, Caitlin, Cara and Dan. He graduated from Warwick Public

Schools, Bishop Hendricken High School, Boston College and the Columbus School of Law at

Catholic University. He also studied at the University of Kent at Canterbury, England; and

     WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Senator McKenney has always been very active in civic

and community affairs. He has served as the Chair of the State Library Board, President of the

Providence Community Library, and as President of the Literacy Volunteers of Rhode Island. He

currently serves on the Advisory Board of Books Are Wings and the Advisory Council of House

of Hope; and

     WHEREAS, Since his election to the Senate in 2018, Senator McKenney has served as

the Secretary of the Senate Committee on Rules, Government Ethics & Oversight, and as a

member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate Committee on Special Legislation &

Veterans’ Affairs; and

     WHEREAS, Senator McKenney worked tirelessly to improve the State's economy and its

business climate. He sponsored numerous bills to help small business entrepreneurs and to create

more job growth and opportunities for Rhode Island citizens; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby thanks Senator Mark

P. McKenney for his distinguished public service career; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Mark P. McKenney.
